A kitchen is more than just a place to cook; it’s the heart of the home. In Melita, Manitoba, Refreshed + Refurbished recently completed their largest cabinet painting project to date, transforming a dark, dated kitchen into a bright, cohesive, and beautifully refreshed space. This project highlights not only the team’s expert painting skills but also their hands-on design consulting and ability to guide clients through complex design decisions with confidence.
The original kitchen featured dark wood cabinetry that made the space feel heavy and closed in. Ready for a complete refresh, the homeowners chose to update the backsplash, lay durable tile flooring and install a beautiful HanStone Quartz countertop in Calacatta Venato. These updates modernized the kitchen while improving long-term functionality. With multiple elements changing at once, selecting the right cabinet and wall colours was essential to achieving a seamless final result.
That’s where Refreshed + Refurbished played a major role. Both the new countertops and tile flooring featured warm undertones, meaning cooler or overly bright colours could easily clash. After reviewing countless samples and working through multiple design mock-ups, the cabinets were painted Baby Fawn by Benjamin Moore, a soft, warm neutral that brightens the kitchen while perfectly complementing the surrounding finishes. The walls were painted White Moderne by Behr, a carefully chosen white that enhances the cabinetry without feeling stark or cold. In fact, multiple shades of white were tested before landing on the final choice, showcasing the thoughtful and detailed approach Kailan and her team took throughout the project.
The transformation didn’t stop with colour. The cabinet hardware, selected by the client from Amerock, adds personality and a polished finishing touch. One of the most striking updates was swapping out the plain glass in the cabinet doors for a beautiful textured reeded glass, instantly adding depth and visual interest. To further modernize the look, the existing cross bars in the glass doors were removed, creating a cleaner, more seamless appearance that allows the updated cabinetry to truly shine.
This project was also a milestone for Refreshed + Refurbished. As their largest cabinet project to date, and the home located in Melita, it required significant travel and coordination. Still, the team’s attention to detail never wavered, and the results speak for themselves.
Refreshed + Refurbished helped the homeowners navigate from cabinet colour to wall paint. The end result is a kitchen that feels cohesive, elevated, and entirely renewed. This Melita transformation is a perfect example of how expert painting, thoughtful design guidance, and quality updates can completely redefine a space.
